I have been so excited to share the Grieffs’ gallery because this one has such a special place in my heart. Lauren and Justin’s colorful wedding at 1868 Farmhouse in Boone, Iowa, was just one of those days where everything came together so perfectly and the joy was just everywhere you looked. Rainbow bridesmaids, the most gorgeous garden florals, and two people who were just so completely ready to be married. I had the absolute best time and I can’t wait for you to see how all of it came together.

I have to talk about the bridesmaids first because the combo was one of my favorites from a wedding. Lauren gave each of her girls a different color—mint, hot pink, orange, coral, yellow, blue—and together they all looked so good together. It worked so well because even though every dress was different they all felt like they belonged to the same day and the same story and honestly that is exactly what a colorful wedding should feel like!
If you have been thinking about mismatched bridesmaids and feeling a little nervous about it, let Lauren and Justin’s wedding be your sign to just go for it! The key is keeping everyone in the same general color family so it feels curated rather than chaotic and Lauren absolutely nailed that. It is honestly one of my favorite wedding trends right now and I hope it never goes away.

Lauren getting ready at 1868 Farmhouse was just so fun and she was so calm and so beautiful the whole morning! The getting ready suite there is so gorgeous and bright and such a dream to photograph in! Lauren had the most stunning bouquet too with peach roses, blue delphinium, yellow roses, lavender and chamomile daisies all together.

The ceremony was so romantic and you could feel how excited everyone was to be there celebrating these two! That energy in a crowd of people who genuinely love the couple getting married is always my favorite thing to walk into and Lauren and Justin had that in the best way.
The first look portraits in the garden right after were honestly some of my favorites from the whole day! I always love that little window right after the ceremony when it is just the two of them and everything has just happened and they are still so in it together. Lauren and Justin were just so happy and so natural with each other and I had the best time with them!

Here is the thing about a colorful wedding that I want every couple to hear, bold choices almost never look like too much once you are actually living inside your wedding day! On a mood board it can feel like a lot but in real life with real flowers and real people who love you it just feels like joy. That’s exactly what Lauren and Justin’s day felt like from start to finish!
A colorful wedding also gives you so much more to work with as a photographer. Every detail Lauren chose told you something real about who she is and what this day meant to her. The florals, the bridesmaids, the details inside 1868 Farmhouse, it all just felt so alive and so them and I’m so grateful I got to be there for it!
